What do you already know about pro-life and pro-choice groups? What do these terms mean? Is it an issue you have thought about?

-Pro-choice emphasises the woman's choice whether to terminate a pregnancy. Pro-life proposes the right of the embryo or fetus to gestate to term and be born. Both terms are considered loaded in mainstream media, where terms such as "abortion rights" or "anti-abortion" are generally preferred.

-organ donation about people killing other people and took out their organ and sell it for money.

Teenagers to be unwound are sent to Harvest Camps. Can you make a connection between the language used to describe this place, and the places have been sent historically?

-Well, it means that the teen's body and brain are dismantled and preserved as an organ transplant for someone else. It's like recycling, but with people. Neal Shusterman published Unwind in 2007. Since then, there's been no going back.

The term "living in a divide state" here is really a euphemism for what.? Can you think of other, common euphemism.? Why do people use euphemism?.

-Does anyone really deal with death well? It's such a delicate - and final - state that many of us like to dance around the truth.

Examples of common Euphemisms
  • Passed away instead of died.
  • Dearly departed instead of died.
  • Ethnic cleansing instead of genocide.
  • Negative patient outcome instead of died.
  • Collateral damage instead of accidental deaths.
  • Put to sleep instead of euthanize.
  • Pregnancy termination instead of abortion.
  • Bite the big one instead of die.

Use of euphemism
Euphemisms offer a way to reduce tension in conversation and make everyone involved feel more comfortable. Euphemisms can be used for the benefit of others without causing harm in many cases

What is the definition of legal?
-relating to the law.

What about ethical?
-relating to moral principles or the branch of knowledge dealing with these

Do you believe that because something is legal, it is also ethical, or morally right?
- We might tend to think that laws originate from moral convictions about ... For example, some things are immoral, yet perfectly legal. You can probably come up with many of your own powerful examples, but we'll just offer a few. What is morally right but ethically wrong? Persecution on religious grounds is one of the most common examples of something that is morally right (or at least morally excusable) but ethically wrong.

Can things that are ethically sound ever be illegal? Provide examples. .
-Thus something can be ethical, but immoral; society imposing the death penalty on someone. In short, it is impossible to do anything that is either legal or ethical ever.
